1.) The videos made me think about how there are actually people out in the world, trying to purposely cause chaos for no good reason whatsoever. There should never be a good reason to spread misinformation anyway because there are a lot of gullible people that read these fake news articles on social media and believe them. I’ve had several family members post fake news articles on Facebook and you can clearly see the http://www.abc.com.co and people think its the actual ABC organization because they’ll only read the headline but not click on the article to see that its a bogus news site. These are “fake news sources or anonymous new sources”, as Alyssa Wright says in Fake News: Part 1.
2.) I knew about all of the propaganda that Hitler spread about Jewish people and what he did to them but I honestly knew nothing about how it was even being spread when George Washington was president and went back even further after that as well. I found it all interesting because I honestly believe a lot of people didn’t even pay attention to “fake news” until this past 2016 election when it was used almost daily and still is.
3.) I am guilty of having a confirmation bias and I usually seek out my news from favorable places and I need to change that because you always need a healthy balance of both sides. I didn’t cross over to the other side to seek out articles but I hope I can change that and open my mind a little bit and see the other sides opinion. The video asks us to check our bias and be objective, which is a good example to pursue.
4.) I’ve never really commented on a lot of news on social media but mainly because people are going to have one opinion and stick with that one opinion and never change their minds so I usually don’t pay attention to what news is on social media.
